Candice Meiners - Amidst the Mosquitoes

I drew and shaded the scene on site at Centennial Park with a charcoal pencil and charcoal stick. I was at the park for two days and made the final adjustments in studio.

I chose this scene for its unusual perspective at the bottom of a ravine. I liked the diagonals that I saw which is how I chose my position. Unfortunately, this also proved to be the favorite place of the mosquitoes and I had them for company, hence the title.
