Kaitlin Tucker - "The Fox"

High School: Buhler High School

For this project I first took a photo of the Historic Fox Theatre in downtown Hutchinson, KS. After taking the photo I began working with it in Photoshop. In Photoshop I edited the levels and contrast. After cropping the photo to get a more interesting composition I added filters. Eventually I added various layers with gradients and different textures. I spent time adjusting each layer to make sure everything fit together within the picture.

The subject of my piece is the Historic Fox Theatre. The Fox Theatre has played an important role in the community of Hutchinson as a place to show movies and hold performances. As well as being popular in Hutchinson, the Fox Theatre was a founding member of the Kansas Historic Theatre Association and has been named “The State Movie Palace of Kansas.” I personally have been to the Fox many times to see a variety of performances and to see movies.
